Getting Listed in the EMDR Registry of Hong Kong Therapists

Eligibility for Inclusion

To be included in the EMDR Registry of Hong Kong Therapists, applicants must satisfy all of the following requirements:

Residency

You must be a resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) or the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR), and hold a valid Hong Kong or Macau Identity Card.

Educational Qualification

You must hold a postgraduate degree in a mental health-related helping profession, such as:

  • Clinical Psychology
  • Psychiatry
  • Social Work
  • Counselling
  • or another equivalent mental health profession

Practical Experience

You must have at least six (6) months of post-degree experience providing one-to-one counselling or psychotherapy, including a minimum of three (3) actual client cases. Internship or practicum placements do not count toward this requirement.

EMDR Therapy Basic Training

You must have successfully completed an EMDR Therapy Basic Training programme and hold a Certificate of Completion (COC) issued by either:

  1. EMDR Hong Kong (The EMDR Association of Hong Kong); or
  2. An overseas EMDR association provided that
    1. The association is recognised by EMDR Hong Kong (EMDRHK), and
    2. The trainer is recognized by EMDRHK, and
    3. The training curriculum is equivalent to the Basic EMDR Training programme of EMDRHK.  Note: If the overseas curriculum is determined to be not fully equivalent, you will be required to complete additional supervision sessions arranged by EMDRHK to make up for any shortfall in the required supervision hours before you can be included in the Registry.

  2. If your Certificate of Completion was issued by an overseas EMDR association, you will need:
    1. To provide copy of the Certificate of Completion.
    2. To provide a letter from the recognized Trainer confirming that he/she trained you, and detailing your full curriculum (workshops and supervision hours).

Listing in the “Find a Therapist” Directory

The “Find a Therapist” directory features qualified EMDR Therapists offering private sector services in Hong Kong, either through private clinics or as self-employed practitioners. Your listing allows you to:

  • Advertise your EMDR therapy services
  • Highlight your specialties
  • Provide contact details for prospective clients to book appointments

Listing Fees

  Monthly 6 months 12  months
Non-members $360 $1,900 $3,500
Members (of ENDRHK) $200 N/A $2,100 (recommended*)

*Note: The 12-month publication fee is about the same as just 1–2 client sessions.  Advertisers say it consistently brings more clients.

Terms & Conditions (T&C)

  1. Extension. You may renew or extend your listing at any time at your convenience. The added period will start after your current term ends. Early extension is recommended to lock in the current fee.
  2. Membership discount. The discount applies only while your membership is active. If your membership lapses, the listing fee for the period in which you are not a member will be calculated at the rate of a non-member (see above).
  3. Updates / Corrections. To update your listing, please submit a revised form (Apply to get listed). We will update your listing at the next scheduled List update, usually at the start of the next annual quarter.
  4. Payments. Payments are not refundable.
