During the EMDR Therapy Basic Training you present a case report on three occasions: twice verbally and once in writing.
A. The three case reports
- Pre Part-2 (verbal report): In one of the 3 GSCC sessions before the Part-2 workshop, you present one actual case that you personally treated with EMDR after completing Part-1. The presentation is verbal, about 15 minutes, with no video or recording.
- Consolidation (verbal report): In one of the 3 Advanced GSCC sessions (Consolidation), you present another actual case that you personally treated with EMDR after completing Part-2. The presentation is verbal, about 15 minutes, with no video or recording.
- Final case report (written report): After the 3 Advanced GSCC sessions (Consolidation), you write and submit another actual case that you personally treated with EMDR after Part-2 (see C below).
B. How to prepare a case report
Choose one case in which you personally used EMDR therapy in a real session, and prepare the following points:
- The client’s background information and history
- Presenting problem: symptoms / diagnosis
- General method used (e.g. CBT, client-centred, Gestalt)
- Why you decided to use EMDR
- How you used EMDR in this case: the number of times you provided EMDR, the length of each (in minutes) and the total across all sessions
- The protocol used (Incident, NC, PC, SUDS, etc.), describing the steps in as much detail as possible
- Changes or improvements in the client’s functioning, behaviour, cognitive beliefs, emotions, etc.
- Your practical conclusions from the therapy (positive changes, difficulties, highlights)
- Your reflections, suggestions and implications
C. Final written case report
- Written in English, 500–750 words (2–3 pages), as a .doc, .docx or .pdf file.
- Include all the points listed above.
- Submit it within 2 weeks of your third session of the Advanced GSCC sessions (Consolidation).
- To submit, fill out the form below and attach your report. You need a Gmail account: use the same Gmail address you used to apply for the Advanced GSCC sessions (Consolidation), or create a new one.
